Clay Project
– Each grade level has been assigned a month (see above). Adhering to this schedule helps everyone get their projects done when they need them.
–The process is long: you need time to account for drying (at least 10 days!), firing and glazing time.
-- Recruit ALL your parent helpers for these projects. The more hands involved, the quicker prepping and glazing will go, as well as helping the students during the actual classroom project.
-- The children are not allowed to glaze. We have a nice assortment of glaze colors, so if your project calls for it, you may bring in the sample color pieces and allow your students to request a certain color.
–Kiln space is limited, so please plan ahead

Kiln:
-- There will be a calendar and sign up sheet on the clay cabinet doors to schedule your kiln time.
-- Usually there will be two days a week for kiln firing, but additional times can be scheduled if necessary. Text the kiln volunteer (info on that sheet in the art prep room) to coordinate.
